And if you’re looking to move quickly and sell your house fast in Liverpool, contact us today to discuss how we could help you.

Aigburth

To the south of the city is Aigburth, a well-connected area that is also one of the most affluent near Liverpool. With plenty of Grade II listed buildings to choose from, wonderful open spaces, and vibrant social areas, it is often voted in the top places to live in the UK.

According to Merseyrail, a season ticket costs just over £600 and can take as little as 17 minutes on some journeys.

Burscough

Found in West Lancashire, Burscough is a large village that feels a world away from the big city. It is home to Burscough Wharf with its boutique shops and top restaurants such as The Hop Vine. House prices are a bit more expensive so buyers would have to consider swapping the city for something a bit pricier, but there are large detached properties available for under £200,000.

It is a desirable area for families because of the outstanding Burscough Village Primary School and there is no shortage of good alternatives in the area. Commuting to Liverpool city centre takes just 30 minutes via train, with the nearest station 5 minutes away in Ormskirk. Driving into the city will take around 40 minutes at peak times. An annual rail pass costs around £1,000.

Chester

A thriving town in its own right, Chester is another area where a terraced house can cost under £200,000. However, five-bed detached properties can cost you over £500,000, so it is not ideal for every large family.

There are plenty of incredible schools in Chester such as the highly rated Woodfall Primary, and Wimboldsley Community. The commute is manageable with Chester Station taking you to the centre of Liverpool in 40 minutes. Driving can take a while in rush hour, but only 35 minutes on a clear day.

This small historic British city is one of the happiest places to live and work in the UK, so it is no surprise that it is highly sought after. Small enough to make it liveable, yet big enough to boast all the amenities needed to enjoy life. A train season ticket costs around £1,200.

Crosby

To the north of Liverpool city is Crosby. Known as an up-and-coming area, it is just 20 minutes away from the centre of Liverpool.

There are plenty of private schools in the area, adding to its reputation, and there are plenty of green spaces and things to do for young and old. This includes the theatre and excellent sports facilities.

A nearby beach offers something a little different but when it comes to the 9-5, while Blundellsands and Crosby station will get you to the city centre with a season ticket costing £750.

Formby

In a coastal area where house prices averaged £368,763 last year, most sales were for detached properties which fetched £278,649. There are plenty of leafy suburbs and a quiet feel that makes this village feel a whole world away from the bustle of Liverpool city centre.

Still, for those commuting, a season ticket on the train will cost close to £950, but will only take between 35-45 minutes. Driving takes around 45 minutes on an average day.

Hightown

Expect breathtaking views and a village feel from Hightown, where house prices average over £300,000. Hightown is also one of the ‘poshest’ areas to live in the UK according to The Telegraph. A commuter will enjoy the fact that season tickets cost under £950, and that the train journey will only take around 35 minutes.

Lark Lane

A vibrant place to live and known for its array of boutiques, music venues, bars, cafes, and more, Lark Lane has both a pulse and a local feel.

Often described as “boho” – it is popular with young professionals and has numerous property options for first time buyers, as prices averaged £149,975 last year. It takes just 17 minutes to drive to the city, making it one of the best commuter towns near Liverpool.

New Brighton

A recently developed area, New Brighton is an excellent choice for young families looking to live near Liverpool thanks to its numerous reputable schools. A seaside location will appeal to just about anyone, and Liverpool is just across the water. House prices are rising steadily but it is still possible to get a lot for your money, with prices averaging £154,000.

For towns within a 90-minute commute to Liverpool, New Brighton ranks highly. The train takes 25 minutes, the bus takes 28 minutes, and driving can take around 15.

Newton-le-Willows

Recently named one of the most sought-after places to relocate to, Newton-Le-Willows offers independent shops, a busy high street and brilliant transport links. Average property prices were £179,884 at the end of 2021.

This market town boasts a population of just over 22,000, making it big enough to have all the amenities you could need, but still with a small-town feel. For the commuter, it takes around 40 minutes via train and another ten minutes on top of this for those driving.

Prescot

With new developments contributing to the growing reputation of Prescot, property prices are rising in this historic market town. Found eight miles outside of Liverpool city centre, a terraced house can cost just over £100,000, meaning there is plenty of value in the market.

Charr Lane Woods is close by for walkers and a large pond to the south of the park is popular with dog walkers.

The numerous schools are another big draw for families, and for the commuter, a train from Prescot to Lime Street only takes 20 minutes. A drive will mean venturing onto the M62 but should only take 30 minutes on an average working day.

St Helens

Home to the famous St Helens rugby league team, the area has mixed reviews where there are plenty of good schools and things to do, but crime rates are above average for the area.

It is within commuting distance of Liverpool and will take around 45 minutes on an average day. A major draw is the property prices that average £157,937, with terraced properties averaging just £112,051.

Waterloo

Swapping the excitement of the city for a place with a beach, outdoor activities, and plenty going on isn’t always easy, but Waterloo has a bit of everything.

Think coastal walks, green spaces, plenty of characterful properties, and lots of amenities. It takes 15 minutes to get to Liverpool Moorfields Station and a season ticket will cost just £750.

Woolton

An affluent area that is much sought-after, Woolton is just 6 miles from Liverpool, making it an excellent commuter town for those with a little extra to spend on their next home move. There are plenty of bars and restaurants to eat and be seen in, and excellent schools close by popularising this small town.

Driving to Liverpool takes just 15 minutes on an average day from Woolton.
